May in My Backyard

Each time we come home from a trip, I stop and take a look at our familiar  surroundings.  I realize that no matter where we go, our own back yard offers beauty equal to many parts of the world.  Beauty is diverse and so its not that one place is more beautiful than another, it’s that it is a different kind of beauty.  I love our sun room that faces the backyard and affords us a year round view of the changing seasons.  When it’s Spring, Spring is my favorite.

The views are not limited to the backyard as this is the scene from my front door.  This road leading back to a farm at a dead-end, is shared with seven other houses. The views change with every turn and the rolling hills and orchards of South Central Pennsylvania are unending.

A short walk down the road offers fields, orchards, hills and distant mountains.

I have a weakness for cattle on hillsides.  It reminds me of my Dad, a farmer, of whom I was very proud.

The details along the road are not to be missed.

A patch of violets and a couple of individual ones, beauty beyond compare in their simplicity.

I love lilacs, they remind me of my Mother.  She used to clip them and make a corsage from the fragrant blossoms.

I took this picture the other day when the sun was so bright I couldn’t see the screen on my camera, but I was pleased with the conglomeration of branches that formed this type of spring beauty.

These are not dandelions or yellow flowers.  I got this distant shot of two perfectly beautiful yellow birds just before a robin swooped in and they flew away.

And this little guy shows up early and is often seen hopping and stopping all over the yard.  I actually took this picture last year in June, but rabbits are always a spring treat.

There you have it, a peak at Spring in my back yard.
